Automation tools are great because they can do tasks automatically for you, thus allowing you to focus on other things. And what’s great about the GhostMouse automation tool is the minimalistic approach and ease of use. It may not be as powerful as some macro utilities out there, but it is incredibly easy to use.

880KB is the size of the GhostMouse installation file. Run the file once the download completes (a less than 1MB download will complete in a blink) and a simple setup wizard will help you install the application. You will be asked to pick the installation directory and select if you want a desktop shortcut.

There isn’t much to say about GhostMouse’s interface because there isn’t much interface. There’s just a big red button for starting the recording process and a big green button for starting the playback. Above these buttons there’s a File, Options, and Help menu. This minimalistic approach ensures you will immediately feel at home using GhostMouse.

To record mouse movements, clicks, and keyboard presses, you need only hit the aforementioned red button. Once you do that, the button turns black – hit said black button to stop the recording, or use the F10 hotkey (that’s the default, you can change it to something else if you want to). To start the playback, hit the green button; and to stop it use the Ctrl + F2 hotkey (this is also the default; feel free to change it if you want to).

Use GhostMouse to record a task that you don’t feel like doing on your own. Save the recording as a GhostMouse script, then whenever you want GhostMouse to perform the task automatically for you, load the script and start the playback. It’s as simple as that.

GhostMouse is free. You won’t have to part with your money to enjoy the functionality presented above.

GhostMouse is a very simple automation tool and that’s a plus. It is a lot easier to use than many macro utilities out there.

Pros

The interface is very simple. Record mouse movements, mouse clicks, and key presses; save the recording as a script; load the script at your convenience and start the playback. GhostMouse is free.

Cons

Some may say that GhostMouse is a bit too simple.
